Case in point Dennis Rader, aka B.T.K., who from 1974 to 1991 killed 10 people. What I learned from the Atlanta case is that these kinds of killers don’t look like monsters, but actually look like everyday Joes. While the timing, location, and type of victims were all similar enough to suggest a single serial killer, the different ways in which they were murdered and their bodies were disposed of could suggest the cases are unrelated. From the summer of 1979 to 1981, over 27 young black males were killed in the Atlanta area. Their car had been left weeks earlier at a rest stop. The fourth pair were found dead in the woods, their bodies too decomposed to reveal how they were killed. The third pair vanished entirely, their vehicle abandoned. The second pair were shot to death, their car discovered not far from where their bodies washed up from the James River. The first pair were found strangled to death with their throats slashed in their car. In 1977, ten girls and women were raped and strangled to death in the hills overlooking Los Angeles, California. #Famous serial killers crime scene photos archive#All of the victims were young, white, and were either a romantic couple or would have appeared so to a stranger. 02 of 21 Kenneth Bianchi Bettmann Archive / Getty Images Along with his cousin Antonio Buono, Kenneth Bianchi was one of the criminals known as The Hillside Strangler.
